Passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at his home. He was 92 years old. Marshall Edward Matthes was born on July 31, 1926 in Buena Vista Twp., MI to the late Edward C. and Myrtle (Weiss) Matthes. He was raised is Saginaw County and then served his country during World War II with the United States Army. Marshall worked for the Railroad as a machinist for over 30 years. On February 25, 1956 he married his sweetheart, Ardis I. Ramage at the Saginaw First Assembly of God, she preceded him in death on December 27, 2014. Marshall was a faithful member of Saginaw First Assembly of God. He always knew that the Lord was with him during difficult times when he served during the war, happy times spent with Ardis and family and daily as he was hard at work.
Marshall was a tinkerer and liked to fix anything that was broken, he enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Saint Helen, but what he loved most of all was playing his guitar.
He is survived by his brother: Donald (Bernadean) Matthes; brother-in-law: Lloyd McKnight; sister-in-law, Carol Ramage; also many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Marshall was preceded in death by his wife; sister, Esther (Fred) Johnson; brother, Arnold Matthes; sisters-in-law: Gladys (Glen) LePla, Althea McKnight, Beatrice (Otis) Cox, and brothers-in-law, Melvin Ramage and Edward James (Audrey) Ramage.
FUNERAL: A funeral service for Marshall will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State), Saginaw. Rev. Kurt Cullison will officiate. Private burial will take place in the Buena Vista Township Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Army and American Legion Post # 439.
VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd., (off State) on Friday, June 7, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m.
