Obituary of Kevin M. McConnell

McCONNELL, Kevin M. of Saginaw, Michigan passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 10, 2012. Age 54 years. Kevin Mark McConnell was born on November 17, 1957 in Pigeon, Michigan to Daniel and Barbara (Luecke) McConnell. Kevin married Renee Light on June 25, 1983 at St Stephen Catholic Church in Saginaw, Michigan. She survives him. He was employed by Glaxo-Smith-Kline Pharmaceuticals. Kevin loved to coach his kid's baseball and basketball teams. He loved to hunt, fish, and spending time out of doors. Kevin was a graduate of Michigan State University and was a true SPARTAN fan. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4232 and a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Surviving besides his wife, Renee are two daughters, Kelli McConnell and Megan McConnell; a son, Shane McConnell; his mother, Barbara McConnell; three brothers, Mike McConnell, Kerry (Stacia) McConnell and Daniel McConnell and three sisters, Lynn Soderstrom, Ann Duplissis, and Wendy (Jon) Surprise. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Daniel McConnell. FUNERAL- Kevin's Funeral Liturgy will be take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 4735 W. Michigan Ave. Rev. Fr. John R. Johnson will officiate. Following Kevin's wishes cremation will follow. VISITATION- Friends are welcome to visit with Kevin's family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will be held on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Kevin will lie in state at the church Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the 11:00 a.m. Mass. MEMORIALS- In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Cancer Society and S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
