Obituary of Jasinto Frank Chavez

Passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Union Court Assisted Living, St. Charles, MI at the age of 91. Frank was born on September 11, 1927 in Waco, TX the son of the late Francisco and Gavina (DeLeon) Chavez. He proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Navy. Frank was united in marriage to the former, Gladys Torrez, on June 12, 1954, in Saginaw, Michigan; she preceded him in death on November 22, 1969.
Frank was a member of the American Legion Post #439, Knights of Columbus, National Association of Letter Carriers and St. Dominic Parish- SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He enjoyed bowling, traveling, watching tennis and socializing with his friends. Frank was also known for being a great dancer.
Frank is survived by his children, Frank (Robin) Chavez, Carla Chavez, Anna (Brian) Rabie and Mary (Galen) Simerson; seven grandchildren, Frank (Laura) Chavez Jr., Steve (Katy) Chavez, Theresa Chavez, Jen (Dan) Rawls, Jason Rabie and Jeremy Rabie; six great-grandchildren, several cousins and dear friends. Besides his wife, Gladys, Frank was preceded in death by two infant sons.
FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 3, 2019 from the Chapel of St. Dominic Parish-SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 4735 W. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, MI 48638. Rev. Fr. Steven M. Gavit will officiate. Private burial to take place in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again at the Church on Friday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to American Legion Post #439 or Knights of Columbus. Please share your thoughts and memories with the family at the funeral home, church or through www.DeislerFuneralHome.com
