Obituary
Obituary of Betty Lou Waske
Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Betty Lou Waske, 88, passed away peacefully in her son's home in Saginaw on Saturday, March 30, 2019, and went to be with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.
Betty loved serving her family and community, a personal living testimony to the love of Jesus Christ. Her "hobbies" and interests reflected her unselfish service, as most will remember her for baking and cooking for others. Despite her prowess, she was remarkably humble, always deflecting praise.
She didn't seek the limelight, even though she had much to say worth listening to, she preferred the role of consummate listener, always making people feel like their life details were important to her.
Betty was born in Highland Park, Mich. to Nina & Viggo Rasmussen and grew up there before moving to Michigan's Thumb as a teen. She and her sister, Pat, were invited to an event at Conley Memorial Baptist Church, where she heard the Gospel and accepted Jesus as her savior.
She graduated in 1948 from Marlette High School and married her sweetheart Alex Waske, who preceded her in death in 2017.
Her career was also marked by a servant's role. She loved secretarial duties, working in a few varied environments before retiring after a 25-year career as Administrative Assistant at Sanilac County Medical Care Facility in Sandusky, MI.
She later volunteered for Hospice and in a full-circle story was receiving hospice care when she passed.
She attended Sandusky Baptist Church for more than 50 years, before moving to Kalamazoo for four years, and eventually to Saginaw.
She will be remembered for her sweet smile, loving heart, gracious hospitality.
Betty is survived by a daughter Debi Scott; a son Tom Waske; 4 grandchildren: Courtney Scott (April), Christopher Scott, Rachelle Winberg (Matthew) & Jeff Waske; 13 great grandchildren: Owen, Lucas, & Gabrielle Scott; Cody Waske; Carissa, Camden, & Case Winberg; Bryce, Seth, Cydnee, Gabriel, Xander, & Zachary Waske; 2 great, great grandchildren Kennedy & Hudson Waske; 3 sisters-in-law: Nancy Greenley, Dorothy Haramis & Jeannette Snyder; 11 nieces & nephews, and their children: Mike Greenley (Dawn), Amber, Kevin, Jamie & Jordan; Sarah Demlow (Jeff), Joshua, Zachary & Nathan; Susan Greenley; Dorothy Greenley; Alfred Rasmussen (Pam), Rob; Diane Gailey (Russ), Kristin, Rusty, Nicole; David Waske; Linda Tomlinson (Mike); Shelley Alexander, Laney; Robin Rasmussen-Lindsey, Tommy, Felicia Thomason (Matt), (grandnephew Wyatt & grandniece Leah), Jesse Lindsey; & Tim Rasmussen;
