Obituary of Mary Lou Guzman

Guzman, Mary Lou of Saginaw, Michigan. Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019 with her family by her side. She was 87 years old. Mary Lou Guzman was born on August 25, 1931, in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Remijio and Benita (Duran) Hernandez. She married the love of her life, Gabriel on August 20, 1960; he preceded her in death on September 7, 2016.
Mary worked as an LPN for Saginaw General Hospital for 35 years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Mary enjoyed reading, cooking, going out to the movies and traveling with her husband. But most of all Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her five children: Stephen (Doris) Guzman of Orlando, Catherine (Jamie) Martin of Saginaw, Patricia Vallejo of San Antonio, Helen Trevino of Saginaw and Cynthia Guzman of Saginaw; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister in-law, Cuca Hernandez.
Besides her parents and husband, Gabriel, Mary was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister in-law, Benito, Joseph, Nicholas (Connie) and Richard Hernandez and a sister, Rita Hernandez.
FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1525 S. Washington Ave. Rev. Fr. Thai to officiate with Deacon Roger Pasionek, P.A. Rite of Committal will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Friday, February 15, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 PM with a Vigil for the Deceased at 7:00 PM. Also at Holy Family Catholic Church Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Alzheimer's Association or Diabetes Association. Please share your thoughts and memories with the family at the funeral home, church or through www.deislerfuneralhome.com.
