Obituary of Mary Ruth Crevia

CREVIA, Mary Ruth (Mooney) Saginaw Township, Michigan Our beloved mother, grandmother and sister died on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Shields Comfort Care, surrounded by her family. She was 91 years old. Mary Ruth Mooney was born on September 1, 1927 to the late James Edward and Mary Ellen (Cole) Mooney. She graduated from SS. Peter and Paul High School in 1945. She married Howard Franklin Crevia, Jr. on April 10, 1948 and together they celebrated 65 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on February 6, 2013. Mary Ruth was Past President of St. Thomas Aquinas Home and School Association, the Saginaw Deanery Home and School Association and the Saginaw Deanery Council of Catholic Women. She was a member of the League of Catholic Women and faithful member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Mary Ruth worked as a secretary, bookkeeper and real estate agent. Together with her husband, Howard they founded and operated the Memorial Pet Cemetery from 1975 until 2007. Surviving are her son, Howard III (Virginia) Crevia; granddaughter, Michelle Marie Hull and her daughter, Reese Elizabeth Hull; grandson, David Howard Crevia and his fiancée, Candy Bendon and her son, Tyler Bendon; sisters: Denise A. (James) Skelcey and Janet E. Drago; and many nieces and nephews. Mary Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Howard Jr.; brother: James C. (Grace J.) Mooney, MD; brother-in-law, Joseph Drago. FUNERAL: Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 5380 State St. Rev. Fr. Richard Bokinskie will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State) on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. On Thursday morning, Mary Ruth will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Thomas Aquinas Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
