Obituary of Arlene J. Holtman

Holtman, Arlene J. of Freeland, MI, went to be with the LORD on Sunday, September 23, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was 84 years old. Arlene Joan Coty was born in Saginaw, Michigan on December 19, 1933 to the late William and Theresa (Thom) Coty. She married Russell A. Holtman, Sr. on January 31, 1953. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2016 after 63 years of marriage. Arlene worked as a secretary for Saginaw General, Dr. Gerard Scott, and finally Dr. Dermot O'Brien until her retirement in 1992. She and Russell were members of St. Agnes Catholic Church and Saginaw County Right to Life. In her spare time, she enjoyed volunteering and going to church, gardening, and also volunteering at nursing homes. Arlene enjoyed nothing more than spending time and taking care of her family, always putting her family first. Surviving are her eight children and spouses: Russell (Loretta) Holtman Jr., Thomas (Marion) Holtman, Lori (Rolland) Rivette, Edward Holtman, Michael (Kelly) Holtman, William (Corinne) Holtman, Debra (Greg) Krzciok, and Robert (Amy) Holtman; 24 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; four brothers: Ed, Jim, Bob, and Thom; and six sisters: Helen, Bev, Marge, Marilyn, Judy, and Barb; her church family; and many other family members and friends. Arlene was preceded in death by one brother, Joe and four sisters: Mary, Janet, Shirley, and Phyllis. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to St. Agnes Catholic Church, A&D Hospice, and Dr. Anjali K. Bhateja, DO.
FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 28, 2018 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 300 Johnson Street. Rev. Fr. Ron Wagner will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery.
VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening. Arlene will lie in state at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the St. Agnes Catholic Church, Saginaw County Right to Life, American Alzheimer's Association.
