Obituary of Rachel Schafer

Schafer, Rachel Saginaw, Michigan Passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Great Lakes Rehab Center. Age 100 years. Rachel Schneider was born April 9, 1918 in Oshkosh, Nebraska. She was married to Godfred Schafer on September 7, 1940 in Saginaw. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1996. She was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church of Saginaw. She is survived by four sons and their spouses: Richard Schafer, Robert and Barbara Schafer, Roger Schafer and Daniel Schafer; six grandchildren: Aaron (Jennifer), Troy (Andrea), Todd (Emily), Heidi, Abraham and Adam; nine great grandchildren; and one great great grandson; many nieces and nephews. Rachel was preceded in death by her husband; eight brothers and one sister. FUNERAL: A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 3412 Cresmont in Saginaw. Rev. Michael Wilke will officiate with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to visit at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State).
