Connie gave me the courage to conduct the curatorial affairs of the Saginaw Art Museum in the face of daunting odds in my final year there and from the start of my tenure. Her generosity of spirit and vision for the museum's history and collection were tops, not only for me, but for everyone concerned. Because of her, we made great strides with AAM Accreditation, exhibits, regional art history and collection conservation. When I left Saginaw for the final time, she made sure to give me the fuel of a fine bottle of Scotch, for which I was most grateful. She gave me shelter from the political storms, and I shall never forget her kindness, decency, wisdom, dedication and friendship.

I will always cherish the talks I had with Connie on the front porch of her cottage & also between the Torrence's & Harvey's back cottages. For me, she was kind of a second mom & always gave me good advice. She was a really good listener, a very admirable quality.
I can see her taking the Sunfish out for a sail & how much she loved it. Such good & happy memories.
Above all, Connie was kind & loving. It's hard to imagine Lakeside without her presence. But she will always be there in our hearts & memories. She will be truly missed.

Cheri, you know how she felt about you, I hope. She just adored you, and loved talking and laughing with you. I miss her so much already, and always will.

Greg, she always loved working with you, and when she died at 92, she still had more energy than I had. So nice to hear from you! We do need more people like Mom, you're right. Thank you so much for writing... Sara

I have the fondest memories of Connie, that I will hold in my heart forever. She could always make me smile even on days when the office seemed crazy! She was a breath of fresh air and I couldn't wait to see her. I can't begin to imagine the void that your family has because I know how special she was to me. They don't make them like her every day and I am blessed that I knew her the time I did! I loved her dearly! ! Nicole (at Dr. K's office)

My thoughts are with Connie's family. I came to know this remarkable woman while I served as a curator at the Saginaw Art Museum in the early 1980s and we kept in periodic touch after I moved to Cranbrook in 1985. She was a strong and confident person, with seemingly boundless energy, who taught me a great deal about what it means to be committed to a community and how your presence and work can make a difference. We need more people like Connie.

I will miss Connie's smile, and the times we shared while I was at Lakeside. She always gave me suggestions while shopping at the Lakeside store "did you see this ..." so generous with her time and oh so patient! I will continue to look to the left while I enter the dining hall with a smile, remembering each smile she gave to me and the times we chatted there. She is loved and missed tremendously.
