Obituary of Thomas Wagner

WAGNER, Thomas John "T.J." of Saginaw Passed away on Friday, June 15, 2012 at Cartwright Hospice Residence. He was 72 years old. Thomas John Wagner was born October 2, 1939 in Saginaw to the late Joseph and Frances (Strobel) Wagner. He married Susan Elizabeth Paine on April 4, 1964, in Saginaw. She survives him. T.J. was a veteran proudly serving his country with the U.S. Marines. He was a Captain with the Saginaw City Fire Department and retired after 25 years, he was also a member of the A.F.L.C.I.O. Union. T.J. then went on to own and operate Data First Computers. He was a faithful member of State Street United Methodist Church; he enjoyed singing in the choir and participating with many church groups. T.J. loved spending time with his family and friends, bowling and playing tennis. T.J. is survived by his wife, Susan E. Wagner; his daughter, Karen Wagner and her son, Evan; and his son, Thomas J. Jr. (Beth) Wagner and their children: Rob, Amanda, Allyson and Michael; great grandchildren: Andon and Abbigail Rae; his loving cats: George and Teddy; and many extended family, nieces, nephews and friends. T.J. was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph L. Wagner; and his sister, Elizabeth Schneer.
FUNERAL: A funeral service honoring T.J. will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at State Street United Methodist Church, 3617 Mackinaw. Rev. Elias Mumbiro will officiate. Military honors and entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens under the auspice of V.F.W. Post #1859.
VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday, June 18, 2012 from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. T.J. will lie in state at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Cartwright Hospice Residence, State Street United Methodist Church or the Saginaw County Animal Shelter.
