Obituary of Isabel U. Gomez
Please share a memory of Isabel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gomez, Isabel U. of Saginaw, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord, with her family by her side, on Sunday, June 17, 2018. She was 90 years old. Isabel Ugartechea was born on July 8, 1927 in San Antonio, Texas to the late Augustine and Fliez (Flores) Ugartechea. She married the love of her life and soul mate, Henry Gomez, on June 2, 1943; he preceded him in death on May 8, 1979, after 36 years of marriage. Isabel was a cancer survivor since June 1975. She was the oldest member of the Latin American Assembly of God, currently named Havest Assembly of God, from the beginning, and for a total of 65 years. She was an excellent cook, going on church retreats, and traveling across the United States. Isabel was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be remembered for being willing to give the shirt off her back or even her last dollar. Surviving are five boys: Richard (Guadalupe) Gomez, Rogers (the late, Angie) Gomez, Daniel (Gloria) Gomez, Gilbert (Minerva) Gomez and Robert Gomez; 15 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren with two on the way; and daughter-in-law, Gracie Gallando; travel companions, Frank and Linda Pena. She was preceded in death by her three bothers and two sisters: Manual Ugartechea, Joe Ugartechea, Ernie Ugartechea, Rebecca Garcia, and Mary Ugartechea. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Isabel's loving caregivers, We Love You: daughter-in-law, Minerva Gomez; granddaughters: Amanda Gomez, Rachel Summers, and Crystal Gomez; and special granddaughter, Elisa Gloria, who came from Alaska to care for her grandmother. The Gomez Family also extends a thank you to Grace Hospice.
