Please share a memory of Anton to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Deisler, Anton F. "Tony" Sr. of Clearwater, FL formerly of Saginaw, MI passed away peacefully on Monday, June 4, 2018 in Clearwater, Florida. He was 91 years old. Anton was born on March 23, 1927 in Saginaw, MI to the late Edward G. Sr. and Bernadette (LaVeck) Deisler. While attending St. Mary's High school, he was known as the "Golden Toe" because he drop kicked many of the teams extra points in football. Following graduation, he enlisted with the United States Navy, serving as a Corpsman during World War II. Interestingly, while providing physical evaluations to soldiers upon their return from their deployment to Okinawa, Tony looked up and saw his brother, Ed had also safely returned. Following his honorable discharge, Tony married the love of his life, Jacolyn A. "Jackie" Ottersky on June 23, 1951 at St. Mary Cathedral in Saginaw. Tony then attended Wayne State University and earned his degree in Mortuary Science. He joined his father and brothers, Edward and Joseph in the family business, Deisler Funeral Home. He was involved in many community organizations such as Kiwanis Club and the Saginaw Jaycees, receiving many outstanding and distinguished service awards. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4243, Bay City Country Club, the Germania Club, and Fordney 300 and its Exhausted Roosters. While living in Saginaw, he was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and its athletic boosters. Upon his retirement, Tony and his wife, Jackie resided in Oldsmar, Florida. He and Jackie spent many days at Clearwater Beach, at their favorite spot on the beach, which was under palm trees between Frenchie's Restaurant and Palm Pavilion. After Jackie's passing in 2015, Tony still enjoyed attending many Detroit Tiger pre-season games, Red Wing games in Tampa, and many days at the Tampa Bay Downs Horse Track. Tony will be fondly remembered for the Kentucky Derby, Belmont, and Preakness parties. While in Florida, he was often seen riding his three wheeled trike with his American Flag attached, well into his nineties. He never met a stranger and was able to have conversations about anything with anyone. Tony was very proud of his family and instilled great values within his children and grandchildren. Tony's spirit will be deeply missed by his children: Anton F. Deisler Jr. (Marilyn) of Saginaw, Mary Jo Barrett (Daniel) of Carl Junction, MO, and Robert W. Deisler (Tamara) of Saginaw and their daughter, Allessa M. Deisler; grandchildren: Kira A. Garland (Jonathan) of Clearwater, FL, Anton F. Deisler III of Saginaw, Tavis L. Rousseau (Anne) of Crystal Lake, IL, and their children: Hannah, Ethan and Luke Rousseau; Seth F. Rousseau (Sarah) of Saginaw, MI and their daughter, Lauryn Rousseau; his sister, Bernadette (Roy) Reid of Daphne, AL; and his brother, Joseph (Gwen) Deisler of Palm City, FL. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jackie; brother, Edward G. Deisler; and sister, Kathryn Dambrun. SERVICE: A Private Memorial Mass to celebrate Tony's life was held. In lieu of flowers and memorials, to honor Tony, thank a Veteran for their service and stay in contact with those you love and hold dear. Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved, still missed and very dear. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd., (off State).
