Obituary of Margaret A. Michalski

Michalski, Margaret A. (Napolitano) Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at her home. She was 95 years old. Margaret Antoinette Napolitano was born on September 5, 1922 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Pasquale "Patsy" and Frances (DeStefano) Napolitano. During World War II, Margaret was a riveter working in the Gun Plant. On Victory Day she met her future husband, Leo W. Michalski. They were married on October 4, 1947 in Saginaw; he preceded her in death on August 28, 2006. Margaret worked for St. Mary's Hospital as a nurse's aide for 10 years and later for Prophet Foods at Steering Gear for 22 years. She enjoyed playing Bingo and always shared her winnings with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. She was a devoted and faithful member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. She will forever be remembered for her hospitality to all by providing amazing meals to family and friends. Surviving are two sons and a daughter: Tony (Linda) Michalski of Frankenmuth, Michael J. Michalski of Saginaw and Mary Judith "Pudy" Tijerina of Norfolk, VA; four grandchildren: Jennifer Michalski (Tina Shaw), Josh (Michelle) Michalski, Carla Esmiller, Carey Rosales; nine great-grandchildren: Ramon, Isiah, Sierra, Dallas, Lincoln, Gabriel, Jacob, Miles and Chloe; one great-great-grandson, Mason; a brother-in-law, Jack Suitor of Saginaw; and a special niece, MaryAnn Manial. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers: Tony, Mary, Clem, Lucy, Anne and Clement. The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt Thank You to the staff of Heartland Hospice and to her caregivers: Jennifer, Alicia and Shawn. FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State Street. Rev. Fr. Richard Bokinskie will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Margaret will lie in state at the church on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of Mass. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
