Dost, Raymond Paul of Saginaw Township
Beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 14, 2018 spending the day with his wife. He was 63 years old. Raymond Paul Dost was born on January 23, 1955 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Paul and Marilyn (Griebe) Dost. He was a 1973 graduate of Caro High School. Following graduation, Raymond proudly enlisted into the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam War. While overseas in Scotland, he met and married the love of his life, Jacqueline "Jackie" Hunter on May 20, 1977; she survives him. Upon his return, Raymond attended and graduated from Delta College, receiving his Associate's Degree. He began his career as a machinist, advancing to a journeyman tool maker, and retiring as a design engineer. Raymond was a member of Hopevale Church. He was an avid outdoors man, enjoyed playing golf and was a master tinkerer. Raymond was a perfectionist by nature and was proud to have such an immaculate yard. He also enjoyed attending football games at the University of Michigan. Above all, Raymond loved and cherished his wife, children and especially his grandchildren. He will forever be remembered for his selflessness to his family and friends, for having a stubborn streak, but mostly for living each and every day to the fullest.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 41 years, Jackie Dost of Saginaw Township; a son, Ryan (Jenna) Dost of Bay City; a daughter, Shawna (John) Ruple, Jr. of Midland; four granddaughters: Hailey Ruple, Madeline Ruple, Eleanor Ruple and Kinley Dost; his mother, Betty Norrington of Caro; four sisters and one brother: Virginia (Tom) Lounsbury of Cass City, Sharon McClorey of Bay City, John (Gloria) Norrington of Manistique, Pam (Scott) Phillips of Marlette and Valerie Beckrow (Greg Benthall) of Caro; and two brothers-in-law: Ian Hunter and Paul (Lorraine) Hunter both of Glasgow, Scotland. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur Norrington; his step-mother, Frieda Dost; a brother, Charles Dost; father- and mother-in-law, John and Agnes Hunter; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Beckrow.
