Obituary of Marian Elaine Ulmer

ULMER, Marian Elaine of Saginaw, Michigan, Our loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, died peacefully on March 28, 2012. She was 91 years old. Marian Elaine Buchanan was born September 26, 1920 to the late Mitchell and Emma (Bissonette) Buchanan in Harrisville, MI. She was married to Edward F. Ulmer on June 1, 1944. He predeceased her on June 13, 1980. Marian attended Emerson Elementary School, Central Junior High School, and Saginaw High School. She worked for Bridgeport Schools until her retirement and enjoyed spending time at her northern cottage, playing cards, and being with family. Marian belonged to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and was a proud member of the Saginaw High School Class of 1938 luncheon group. Left to cherish Marian's memory are two children: Edward (Diane) Ulmer II, Jo Ann (James) Eurick; a Japanese exchange son, Keiji (Junko) Tani; five grandchildren: Dana Ulmer, Michelle (Randy) Blackburn, Nicole (Harry) Frederick, LTCMDR Jayson (Amanda) Eurick and Jill Eurick; nine great-grandchildren: Coleton, Brooke, Hunter, Joshua, Emily, Khloe, Kendall, Tyler and Danika; a sister, Helen Reynolds; sisters-in-law: Martha Ulmer, Elaine Priest, Marion Matzke and Nan Buchanan; plus several nieces and nephews. Marian was preceded in death by her husband Edward, two brothers, Harold and Ivan "Ike" Buchanan, and her loving great-grandson, Dillon Ulmer. Marian's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of McBrite Manor for their kindness and compassion given to their mother. FUNERAL: Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 2, 2012 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5335 Brockway Road. Rev. Mark Buckert will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Sunday, April 1, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
