Obituary
Obituary of Aaron Sandler
Please share a memory of Aaron to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
SANDLER, Aaron E. unexpectedly died in Chicago on June 3, 2012. Aaron was 85 years old. He is survived by four sons: Andy Sandler (Gaye) of Nashville Tennessee, Peter Sandler of Seattle Washington, Terry Goodman (Amy) of Cincinnati, Ohio and Matt Sandler (Jessica) of Chicago, Illinois. Aaron was blessed with seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He also has a surviving brother, Gene Sandler (Gail) of Chapel Hill North Carolina.
Aaron survived the passing of his first wife Jo Anne Sandler and his wife of 38 years-Sandra Sandler. Aaron's oldest son Frank Sandler (Rhonda) of Prescott Arizona predeceased him.
Aaron was born in Boston Massachusetts and served in the Navy Medical Corp during World War II. After the War, Aaron graduated from Colby College in Maine where he set a school record in the 100-yard dash.
After graduation, Aaron started a medical testing laboratory. He later moved to Bay City and worked at Wolverine Knitting Mills. His tenure at Wolverine lasted over thirty years, and he served as the company's Vice President In Bay City, Aaron became a 33° Mason, acted with the Bay City Players, served as a Board Member of Temple Israel, and was active in Rotary.
Aaron retired with Sandra to Sarasota Florida. In Sarasota, Aaron enjoyed visits from family and friends. He also maintained an interstate truck brokerage business. Last year Aaron moved to Chicago.
Although successful throughout his life, Aaron's greatest and proudest achievement was melding the lives of two distinct families. When he married Sandra, she had two sons and Aaron had three boys. Despite natural and intense rivalries, Aaron made certain that the boys formed a family in the true sense of the word. In reality Aaron and Sandra created the real life "Brady Bunch." Importantly, Aaron always beamed when he spoke of his children's and grandchildren's accomplishments.
