Obituary of Elinor Dorothy Schwartzkopf

Schwartzkopf, Elinor D. (Kuk) Elinor, age 93, went home to the Lord on Thursday, March 8, 2018. Elinor D. Kuk was born on May 31, 1924 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Julius and Amelia (Renn) Kuk. She married Benjamin Schwartzkopf on February 1, 1947. He preceded her in death on May 8, 1979 after 32 years of marriage. Elinor was a longtime and faithful member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing Bingo as well as taking daily walks. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elinor embodied the essence of being fashionable and feminine; keeping up on the latest fashion trends and getting her nails and hair styled regularly. She will forever be remembered for her fierce independence, her indomitable spirit, and her ability to befriend anyone. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of American House and Arbor Hospice in Saline. Surviving are one son, William J. Rice of Saline, Michigan; a grandson, Steven J. (Carolyn) Rice of Sammamish, WA; a granddaughter, Jennifer M. (Andy) Turner of Ann Arbor, MI; and four great-grandchildren: Blake Turner, Samantha Rice, Colin Turner, and Benjamin Rice. She was preceded in death by a special daughter-in-law, Joyce M. Rice; two brothers and three sisters: Harold Kuk, Rudy Kuk, Elsie Poole, Ida Wyatt, and Clara Cox. FUNERAL: A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 19, 2018 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Rob Schmidt will officiate. Honoring Elinor's wishes cremation has taken place. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
