Our loving father, grandfather, uncle and friend passed away peacefully on Friday, February 23, 2018 at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center, surrounded by his family and friends. He was 87 years old. Richard Howard Peters was born on January 3, 1931 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late F. Earl and Lena (Howard) Peters. Following his 1949 graduation from Arthur Hill High School, Dick enlisted in the United States Army. Upon his return, he married the love of his life, Frances Horn, on September 11, 1954; she preceded him in death in October 2016. Dick was a championship softball player and continued to play for over 30 years. He was employed with The Saginaw News for 39 years. Dick was a faithful member and volunteer of Faith Ev. Lutheran Church. He continued his volunteerism within the community at the Temple Theatre, Pit & Balcony Theatre, Saginaw Historical Society at the Castle Museum, and the Korean War Veterans Association. He and Fran enjoyed traveling, visiting all 50 states and 30 countries. Dick also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, playing cards and reading. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
