Please share a memory of Ruth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Schneider, Ruth Marie Saginaw, Michigan Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Ruth Marie Schneider passed away peacefully on Monday, February 19, 2018 surrounded by her family, at age 98. She was born on July 27, 1919 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Arthur and Ethel (Blankemeier) Butt. Her family moved to Saginaw in 1935. After a brief pre-war romance, and writing letters during WWII, Ruth married Paul H. Schneider on January 26, 1946. They shared many blessings together for nearly 40 years, including two beautiful children: Janet Lynn and Linda Marie. Paul preceded her in death on May 3, 1985. Ruth taught elementary school for many years, first at a one room school house in Hemlock, MI, then within the Saginaw Public School District. After retiring from teaching, Ruth entered the fashion industry, working at the Carter Shop until 1991. Ruth was a faithful member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Saginaw where she taught Sunday school, was instrumental in creating the church library, and shared her love for Jesus. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing games (especially Jeopardy), baking many specialties like snickerdoodles, entertaining, and taking fall color tours up-north. She made all of those around her feel safe, welcomed, and always had a warm smile for those she met. Ruth Schneider leaves a very powerful legacy of true unconditional love throughout her entire family listed below that will endure for generations yet to come. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Linda (Terry) Tomandl; son-in-law, Paul G. Pahssen; grandchildren: Jeffrey P. Pahssen, Jennifer L. (Anthony) Brown, Melissa M. Colon, Amanda L. (Jeffrey) Parker, Darrell (Michelle) Tomandl and Jill (Brent Rogers) Tomandl; great-grandchildren: Jacob, Olivia, and Grace Parker, Val and Ben Tomandl; nieces and nephews (and families): Carol Cooper, Ric (Kay) Cooper, Michael (Jen) Cooper, and Sandy (Buzz) Bremer; and a special friend and caretaker, Cheryl Lown. Ruth will also be missed by many extended family and friends, including her late husband Paul's families the Coogles and the Craigs. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Schneider; daughter, Janet Lynn Pahssen; sisters: Eleanor Cooper and Virginia Butt; and great granddaughter, Elizabeth Brown. Ruth's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Hoyt Nursing Home and Rehab Centre for the loving care that was provided during Ruth's stay.
