Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family. She was 98 years old. Olga Bernice Silitsky was born on July 3, 1919 in Iselin, Pennsylvania to the late Joe and Mary (Cornish) Silitsky. Olga went to school for graduate nursing at St. Francis Hospital, Detroit. She married Frank J. Stec on February 22, 1944, and he preceded her in death on August 12, 1999. She was a faithful member of Hopevale Church. Olga enjoyed listening to the bible and audiobooks, kitting, reading, camping and swimming. Her true joy was spending time with her family and cherished grandchildren.
Olga is survived by her two sons and two daughters: John Stec, Thomas Stec, Christine (Joel) Berin and Mary (Steve) Avery; ten grandchildren: Katie (Mike) Tesmer, Gina (Ron) VanSteenacker, Jonathan (Rachael) Stec, Danielle (Jeff) Profant, Donovan (Jamie) Stec, Dina (Chris) Sloan, Devon (Mike) Ciegotura, Darcey (Ron) Moore, Melonie (Joe) Porubsky, Steve (fiancé, Jess Bessler) Avery; great-grandchildren: Jamie and Brendan Profant, Calum and Jason Stec, Tristan and Sophia Sloan, Joshua and Lily Ciegotura, Leah and Brady Moore, Luke and Faith Tesmer, Reagan, Rebecca and Ryan VanSteenacker, Jordan and Brooke Hadley, Jacob and Isabel Porubsky.
Olga was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Frank; parents; daughter-in-law, Karen Stec; granddaughter, Amy Hadley; four sisters and two brothers.
The Stec family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Tory Snyder, Dr. Glenn Cipullo, Dr. Melodie Knicely and Gretchen Schattilly for the exceptional care that has been provided.
FUNERAL: A funeral service for Olga will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Hopevale Church, 4873 N Center Rd, Saginaw. Pastor Ken MacGillivray will officiate with entombment to follow at St. Andrew Mausoleum.
VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to visit at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
