Harasin, Henry J. "Hank" of Saginaw Township, Michigan Beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Wellspring Lutheran Services of Saginaw. He was 90 years old. Henry J. Harasin was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 9, 1927 to the late John and Catherine (Koniski) Harasin. He was a proud 1945 graduate of Chadsey High School in Detroit. Hank proudly enlisted in the United States Army and served as Airborne Trooper from 1945 to 1947, serving during the end of WWII, during the occupation of Japan. He married the love of his life, Marie Elizabeth Riedel on July 10, 1948 in Dearborn, Michigan; she survives him. Hank then began working for the Michigan Liability Mutual Insurance Company, later known as Amerisure, retiring after 38 years, as regional vice president. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, the Saginaw Country Club, the YMCA, and a strong supporter of the University of Michigan. He was an automotive enthusiast and was fascinated by their every aspect. In his free time, he also enjoyed gardening and taking care of his yard. He will forever be remembered for being a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather and leaving a legacy of a strong work ethic. Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Marie Elizabeth Harasin of Saginaw Township; a daughter, Linda Lea Harasin of Oceanside, CA; a son John M. (Jean) Harasin, DDS of Alden, Michigan; and three grandchildren: Jason (Lauren) LaPonsey, James Harasin and Angela Harasin. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Harasin and a sister, Bertha Paweski. FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State Street. Rev. Fr. Richard Bokinskie will officiate. Honoring Hank's wishes cremation has taken place. Private burial and Military Honors will immediate follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan, under the auspices of the United States Army. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Alzheimer's Association - Greater Michigan Chapter.
