Obituary of Richard L. Greyerbiehl

Greyerbiehl, Richard L. of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Cartwright Hospice Residence. He was 84 years old. Richard Levi Greyerbiehl was born on May 27, 1933 in Flint, Michigan to the late Harry and Maude (Armstead) Greyerbiehl. Rev. Jerome MacEachin performed the ceremony of his niece, MaryAnne MacEachin and Richard to be married on December 27, 1952; she survives him. Richard and MaryAnne have been faithful members of the Catholic Church. He attended Ubly High School and was elected as a Hall of Fame Quarterback for the school year of 1949-1950. After he graduated with the Class of 1951, he proudly served in the United Stated Marine Corps for nearly 3 years during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge in in 1954, he began his career with the Saginaw Police Department for 9 years, but would retire from Consumers Energy in 1993 after 26 year of service. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post #439. In his spare time, he was a handyman who loved gardening, hunting, fishing, and golfing on the side. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family and taking care of his friends. Richard is survived by his wife of 65 years, MaryAnne; two sons and two daughters: Thomas (Sally), Susan (Stephen, deceased) Rehmann, John (Brigette), and Nancy (Sam) Barrie; 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters and one son: Lori Greyerbiehl, Anne Mcrae, and Michael Greyerbiehl; and brother, Don (Margaret) Greyerbiehl.
FUNERAL: A funeral liturgy will be held at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 at St. Dominic Parish - St. Stephen Catholic Church site, 1310 Malzahn St., Saginaw 48602. Rev. Fr. Steven M. Gavit will officiate. Military Honors will take place at the beginning of the service at the church under the auspices of the United States Marine Corps. Cremation has taken place.
VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. until the time of Mass.
