Obituary of Edward R. Salamon

Salamon, Edward R. "Ed" of Saginaw Township
Honored father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper. He was 86 years old. Edward Robert Salamon was born on March 25, 1931 in Canton, Ohio to the late John Leo and Alexandria (Gutowski) Salamonowicz. He was raised by his foster parents Albert and Mable Santchi. Ed proudly enlisted into the United States Navy serving on the USS Sturtevant during the Korean War. Upon his return, he married the love of his life Wilma Esther Hoobler on June 23, 1955 in Louisville, Ohio; she preceded him in death on June 29, 2017. He worked as a metal patternmaker at Saginaw Pattern, United Pattern, National Pattern and co-founded and owned Wolverine Pattern. Ed was a member of the Patternmakers Association of America. He was a member of American Legion Post 439 and American Legion Post #166 in Canton, Ohio. He was a past member of the Bay City Yacht Club and Saginaw Field and Stream. He was a former member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Ed was a gifted and talented woodworker, building his own home and a 16 foot sailboat.
Surviving are four sons: John (Tammie) Salamon of Madison, WI, William (Mary) Salamon of Saginaw, James Salamon of Saginaw and Charles (Andrea) Salamon of Saginaw; 11 grandchildren: Sarah (Mark) Wolfert, Sam (Tara) Salamon and Joshua (Christy) Salamon, Katie (Jeff) Jensen, Zachary Salamon, Courtney Salamon, Reid "Ben" Brandle and Sarina Hicks; and six great-grandchildren: Abigail and Josh Salamon, Jr., Kepler and Eloise Jensen, Vladimir Salamon and Ellyana Shelton; and a half-sister, Felicia Fabinak of Canton, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Junior Salamon.
FUNERAL: A Memorial Service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. Pastor Jeff Ralph will officiate. Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Navy and American Legion Post #439. Honoring Ed's wishes cremation has taken place.
VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
