Obituary of Maria D. Trevino

Trevino, Maria D. of Saginaw, Michigan, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully on October 19, 2017 at St. Francis Home, with her family by her side. She was 78 years old. Maria Delfina Martinez was born on December 24, 1938 to the late Benjamin and Apolonia (Alamillo) Martinez in Saginaw, Michigan. She graduated from Saginaw High School. She met the love of her life, Homero Hernandez Trevino, and they were united in marriage on November 4, 1965. Homero preceded her in death on March 27, 2017. Maria was a teacher's aide for Bridgeport Spaulding School. After working for 38 years, she retired in 2015, she still went back to be with the children as a lunch aide. She also worked for St. Mary's Hospital as a clerk. Maria was of the Catholic Faith and enjoyed bingo, crafts, traveling, and shopping. She also enjoyed the casino and going to bazaars. Maria loved nothing more than her family. Surviving are her three sons: Rolando (Richelle) Trevino, Homero (Mary Jane) Trevino, Jr., and Luis (Cynthia) Trevino; 11 grandchildren: Victoria (Matthew) Foster, Rebekahlee, Andres "A.J.", Claudia, Zachery, Ashleigh, Emma, Anastasia, Larissa, Mikayla, Marcos, and Vincent; three sisters and three brothers: Lupe Vargas, Gloria Fulsher, Alice (Tony) Stricker, Emilio (Dolores) Martinez, John Martinez, and Augustine (Jean) Martinez Sr.; two sisters-in-law: Rose Garcia and Lois Martinez; close friend, Ruby Melchor; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; grandson, Benjamin Raymond Trevino; granddaughter, Miranda Trevino; sister, Esther (Paul) Olvera; two brothers, Joe Garcia and Tony Martinez Sr.; two brothers-in-law, Filemon Vargas Sr. and Robert Fulsher Sr. FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. 6th Ave. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris, OFM Cap will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends may visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Monday, October 23, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Maria will lie in state at the church on Tuesday morning, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
