Obituary of Walter A. Vollmer

Vollmer, Walter A. "Bud" of Saginaw, Michigan Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend passed away peacefully, with his family by his side on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at HealthSource of Saginaw. He was 76 years old. Walter A. Vollmer was born on August 10, 1941 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Walter J. and Elizabeth (Lonsway) Vollmer. He was a proud 1959 graduate of St. Andrew High School. Upon graduation, Walter attended Bay City Junior College. He was married to the former Mary L. Mier in April 1964; she survives him. Walter worked as an automotive salesman for Bill Hackett Ford in Freeland and Martin Chevrolet in Shields. He had a love and passion for both antique classic cars and speedboats. Walter loved and cherished his family, but above all, his grandchildren were the light of his life. He will forever be remembered for his story telling abilities and his wonderful sense of humor. Surviving are a daughter, Mary (Kevin) Schaeffer of Grand Blanc; a son, Thomas (Tammy) Fleming of Midland; six grandchildren: Zach (Ashley) VanWert, Kristen (Jeremiah) Webster, Devin Schaeffer and his fiancée, Lisa Hannoush, Samantha Schaeffer, Courtney Fleming and Josh Fleming; 8 great-grandchildren: Austin and Aliyah VanWert, Mariah, Michael and Emily Webster, Alexa, Ava and Tyr Schaeffer and two expected in 2018; and two sisters and one brother: Mary Ann (Norm) Stange of Saginaw, Patrick (Maryanne) Vollmer of Saginaw, and Connie (Steve) Dobis of Saginaw. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and friends. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate. Following Walter's wishes cremation will follow. Burial will take place at St. Andrew Cemetery.
