Obituary of Ida Mae Brown
Please share a memory of Ida to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Brown, Ida Mae of Zilwaukee, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Centre, surrounded by her loving family. She was 89 years old. Ida Mae Westendorf was born on April 30, 1928 in Zilwaukee Twp., Michigan to the late Felix and Ida (Dorey) Westendorf. Ida Mae was raised in Zilwaukee with her seven brothers and enjoyed family music nights playing the accordion. She married John E. Brown, Sr. on May 18, 1946 in Saginaw. He preceded her in death on July 21, 2002. Ida was a faithful Catholic, praying daily for her family and in her later years she watched Mass on TV. Ida cherished each gift that was given to her, proudly displaying them in her home. She loved to scrapbook and keep track of all the activities going on in the Zilwaukee Community. Ida Mae loved to stay connected with her family and friends on Facebook and playing Party Poker.
Her saucy sense of humor will be greatly missed by her four children: John (Linda) Brown Jr. of Saginaw, Connie (Don) Quinn and Rita (John) Dovin all of Zilwaukee, and Steve Brown of Carrollton; ten grandchildren: Brian Thomas, Shannon (Thad) Gatza, Jim (Jennifer) Clark, Steve Clark, Danielle Brown, Karen Brown, Raymond Brown, Rachel Brown, Donny (Jess) Quinn and Susan Boshaw; and 28 great-grandchildren. Ida will also be greatly missed by her former son-in-law, R. James (Becky) Clark, many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents, husband, in-laws, Harold and Helen Bauer, seven brothers and her brother-in-law.
