Obituary of Donald Hoover Fisk

Fisk, Donald Hoover "Don" of Saginaw, Michigan Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 20, 2017. He was 88 years old. Donald Hoover Fisk was born on November 8, 1928 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Ross and Irene (Pelletier) Fisk. He proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Army, serving three years during World War II. He married Judith Ann Kleinfelder on August 17, 1978 in Saginaw; she survives him. Don began his career in carpentry working with Saginaw Furniture. He later began working at St. Luke's Hospital as a cabinet maker, retiring after 15 years of service. Don enjoyed creating beautiful things through his talents of wood working and stained glass. He also had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening. Don was also gifted with ceramics and painting. He loved building race cars as well as racing them. Don was a social man and truly appreciated spending time with his buddies drinking coffee at McDonalds and the Bringer Inn. Above all, he loved and cherished his family. He will forever be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his kind and giving spirit. Don is survived by his wife of 38 years, Judith A. Fisk of Saginaw; two sons and four daughters: Donny (Joan) Fisk of Stafford, VA, Darlene (Todd) Douglass of Paxico, KS, Dee Ann (Joe) Bliss of Saginaw, Denise Walworth of Saginaw, Dorothy (Patrick) Leddy of Saginaw and Dale (Janelle Pilarski) Fisk of Saginaw; 12 grandchildren: Donny (Janet Witherell) Fisk, Jr., Theresa Heckman, Stephanie (Jason) Zink, Megan Fisk, Joshua (Ashley) Douglass, Jamie (Elizabeth) Douglass, Tyler Douglass, Andrew Fisk, Alexis (Brad) Boyer, Ashlie (Jeffrey) Todd, Erica (Ryan Plonta) Fisk and Brian Fisk; 13 great grandchildren: Kiersten and Grace Fisk, Chase Fisk, Lillith Zink, Gabrielle Fisk, Olivia Plonta, Oliver, Easton and Everly Todd, Addison, Madelyn, Emma and Mackenzie Douglass and Collins Boyer; two brothers and one sister: Charles Fisk, Jim Fisk and Sue (Randy) Dunlap; one brother-in-law: Harry (Joyce) Kleinfelder; one sister-in-law, Carol (Robert) George; and a niece Sue (Peter) Peer. Also surviving are many additional nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Fisk; and a sister, Betty Chinery. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2017 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Pastor Jeff Ralph will officiate. Military Honors will follow under the auspices of the United States Army and V.F.W Post #1859. Honoring Don's wishes cremation will follow. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to American Heart Association or The Miracle Soldier.
