Obituary of Shirley Lange

Lange, Shirley Saginaw Twp., Michigan Passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the Cartwright Hospice Residence surrounded by her family. She was 97 years old. Shirley Wiese was born on August 3, 1919 in Zilwaukee to the late George and Alma (Bartel) Wiese. She graduated from Saginaw High School in 1926. Shirley married Bernhardt L. Lange on June 10, 1941. They shared 66 years together before his death in 2007. Shirley was an interior designer for Henry Feige and Son, retiring in 1988. She then volunteered at Saginaw General Hospital Gift Shop for 10 years as a buyer. Shirley was an avid bridge player, belonging to two bridge clubs since high school. She was a lover of arts and enjoyed attending various art fairs. Shirley could regularly be found at Butman Fish Library where they all knew her by name and her love of books. Shirley was a member of PEO chapter AH where she developed lasting friendships. She volunteered with the READ program, the migrant children school and was a den mother for both her sons' Cub Scout Packs. She was a faithful member for over 65 years at the First Presbyterian Church, where she was also a deacon. Shirley is survived by her two sons: Thomas Matthew (Phyllis) Lange and Michael James (Cyndy) Lange; four grandchildren: Timothy, Genevieve (Louis), Michelle, and Christopher Lange. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernhardt; her special sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Lawrence Nuerminger. Shirley's family would like to extend a thank you to Krystal, Audrey, and Cartwright Hospice Residence for their loving care of Shirley. A private graveside service was held at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Pastor Ted McCulloch from First Presbyterian Church, officiated. Memorial contributions can be made to First Presbyterian Church or the Butman Fish Library.
