Alaniz, Frederick A. "Fred" of Carrollton, Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at his home, with his family by his side. He was 69 years old. Frederick Anthony Alaniz was born on April 26, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Anthony and Esther Ann (Guerrero) Alaniz. He honorably served his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Upon Fred's return, he married the love of his life, Olivia Contreras on May 4, 1973 in Saginaw; she survives him. He worked for General Motors - Malleable Iron, retiring with over 30 years of service. Fred enjoyed family gatherings, watching Westerns and was an avid newspaper reader. Above all, he loved and cherished his wife and children, but truly treasured his grandchildren. Fred will forever be remembered for being hardworking, humble and more so for his kind and generous spirit. Surviving are his beloved wife of 43 years, Olivia Alaniz of Carrollton; three sons and one daughter: Daniel Alaniz, Bryan (Jessica) Alaniz, Erik Alaniz and Nicole (Aaron) Saunders, all of Saginaw; 10 grandchildren: Sophia, Aubri, Racqual, and Bryan Alaniz, Brooklyn and Hudson Saunders, Daniel, David, Emily and Ella Moncada; one brother, Phillip Alaniz; one sister, Linda Alaniz Avila; and the boys: Bones and Chewy, his beloved pets. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 8, 2017 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Fr. Ronald F. Wagner will officiate. Burial and Military Honors will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery under the auspices of the United States Marine Corps and the American GI Forum. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. The rosary will be prayed on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening led by Pastoral Associate Tori Little.
