Hausbeck, John W. of Saginaw, Michigan Our beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather went to celebrate with our Lord on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at his home with his family by his side. He was 93 years old. John W. Hausbeck was born on January 7, 1924 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Charles Edison and Rose Cecilia (Altscheffel) Hausbeck. He was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Following graduation, John proudly enlisted into the United States Army, serving during World War II in the European Theatre. Upon his return from war, he married the love of his life, Marilyn M. Tate on November 19, 1949 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Saginaw; she preceded him in death on January 15, 2004. John, along with his brothers, ran the Hausbeck Pickle Company, where he served as both president and chairman of the board. He was a faithful member of the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and a big supporter of Catholic education. In his younger years he was an avid hunter. He enjoyed sports, especially Notre Dame football and Detroit Tigers baseball. Above all, John loved and cherished his family, especially his grandchildren. John truly enjoyed his work and always expressed how blessed he was to have a wonderful work family. He will forever be remembered for his extraordinary sense of humor as well as his generous and compassionate spirit. Surviving are his seven children: David Hausbeck of Denver, CO, Joe (Mary) Hausbeck of Saginaw, Nancy (Jerry) Jordan of Warner Robins, GA, Janet (Carl) Real of IA, Tim (Lori) Hausbeck of Saginaw, Gary Hausbeck of Saginaw and Amy Quinn of Belleville, MI; 17 grandchildren: Daniel Hausbeck, Matt Hausbeck, Christopher (Lisa) Hausbeck, Nicholas Hausbeck, Melissa Hausbeck, Mindy (Dion) Moniz, Michael (Katie) Whitehead, Brian (Kim) Whitehead, Nichole (Andy) Pelz, Annelies Real, Emma Hausbeck, Tate Hausbeck, Beau Hausbeck, Macey Hausbeck, Charli Hausbeck, Cailyn Quinn, and Sean Quinn; seven great grandchildren: Hailey Hausbeck, Morgan Hausbeck, Logan Hausbeck, Abigail Whitehead, Merrick Laird, Kaleb Whitehead, and Zoey Whitehead; one sister-in-law, Bernadene Hausbeck. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters: Ferdinand, Bernice, Gerald, Charles, Richard, and Joyce. FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1525 S. Washington Avenue, Rev. Fr. Andy Booms of the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption, John's home parish, will officiate. Military Honors and Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the auspices of the United States Army and the VWF Post #7302. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A vigil service will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening. John will lie in state at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption Renovation Project or to Nouvel Catholic School System.
