Obituary of Homero Hernandez Trevino

Trevino, Homero H. Sr. of Saginaw, Michigan, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away peacefully on March 27, 2017 at Saginaw Geriatrics Nursing home, with his family by his side. He was 79 years old. Homero Hernandez Trevino was born on April 21, 1937 to the late Lauro and Ofelia (Hernandez) Trevino, Sr. in Cuidad Acuna, Cohuilia, Mexico. As a teen, Homero moved to Chicago briefly before making Saginaw, Michigan his home. It was in Saginaw that he met the love of his life, Maria Martinez and they were united in marriage on November 4, 1965. Homero proudly worked for Saginaw Grey Iron Foundry for 37 years, retiring from maintenance in 1999. He was of the Catholic Faith. Homero enjoyed playing the lottery, watching and feeding the birds in his back yard, and he loved his Detroit Tigers. Homero also loved watching boxing matches as well as his gold jewelry. He will forever be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and most importantly, in his own special way of saying I love you, Homero would say, "I like you!" Surviving are his beloved wife of 51 years, Maria Trevino of Saginaw; three sons: Rolando (Richelle) Trevino, Homero (Mary Jane) Trevino, Jr., and Luis (Cynthia) Trevino; 11 grandchildren: Victoria (Matthew) Foster, Rebekahlee, Andres "A.J." and fiancée, Rachael Parlett, Claudia, Zachery, Ashleigh, Emma, Anastasia, Larissa, Mikayla, Marcos, and Vincent; one brother and two sisters: Mario (Cuquina) Trevino, Maria Elena "Nena" (Eladio) Martinez, and Minerva (Domingo) Lopez. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; grandson, Benjamin Raymond Trevino; granddaughter, Miranda Trevino; great-grandson, Isaac J. Reyes; and four brothers: Lauro, Robert, Armando and Oscar Trevino. FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. 6th Ave. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris, OFM Cap will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends may visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Homero will lie in state at the church on Thursday morning, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
