Obituary of Janice L. Dovin

Janice passed away peacefully on January 26, 2017, with her family by her side at St. Mary's of Michigan after a brief illness. Age 78 years. Janice was born on December 9, 1938, in Saginaw. She was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School. In 2000, she retired as a Human Resource Specialist with St. Mary's Hospital after 40 years of service. After retirement, Janice enjoyed frequent trips to the casinos to play her favorite slot machines. Janice was a devout Christian and was a member of the St. Dominic Catholic Parish. The family is comforted to know that Janice is now at peace in Heaven with Jesus Christ. More than anything else, Janice loved spending time with her family. Janice was blessed with a spunky, upbeat personality and was kind and compassionate to everyone that she came into contact with. Surviving are her siblings, John (Rita) Dovin and Kathleen (Donald) Chaltraw; nieces and nephews, Catherine (David) Alexander, Toni Potts, Jason Dovin, and Molly Simon; great-nieces and nephews, Sidney Potts, Jessica Potts, Colton Potts, Mayia Simon, and Ricky Johnson; former nephew-in-law, Dr. Jeffrey Potts; and former sister-in-law, Garlin Dovin. Janice was predeceased by her mother, Florence Campanelli and her brother, Jerry Dovin. Janice's family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at St. Mary's Hospital, especially Doug and Sarah at 6ICU. SERVICE: Per Janice's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to honor Janice will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at 12:00 noon at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State). Rev. Fr. Joseph A. Schabel will officiate. VISITATION: Friends and family are welcome to visit at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon.
