Obituary of Adolfo G. Santoya

Our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Caretel Inns of Tri-Cities. He was 86 years old. Adolfo G. Santoya was born on September 27, 1930 in San Marcos, Texas to the late Simeon and Ofelia (Garza) Santoya. He married the love of his life, Guadalupe Hernandez in October 1952 in Saginaw; she preceded him in death on May 3, 1990. Adolfo was employed by R.C. Hendrick Construction Company, retiring after over 30 years of service. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Adolfo enjoyed working in his yard, dancing, music and helping others. Above all, he loved and cherished his family, especially spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Adolfo is survived by three sons and five daughters: Adolfo Santoya, Jr., David Santoya, Stephen Santoya, Sylvia Lopez, Elisabeth (Marcelo) Hernandez, Esperanza "Hope" Henne, Carmen (Mike) Kurtenbach, Elena (Jon) Lazzaro; two daughters-in-law: Yolanda Santoya and Stella Reyna DeLaGarza; 20 grandchildren; and 33 great grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons and one daughter, Robert Santoya, Samuel "Sammy" Santoya, and Eleanor Santoya; and two great grandsons: Robert and Caden Cheshire. FUNERAL: A funeral liturgy will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. Sixth St. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris, OFM Cap will officiate. Rite of committal will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. VISITATION: Adolfo will lie in state at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to St. Joseph Catholic Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State).
