I always think of the Ayala family with fondness. One thing I will always remember about Elias is his moves on the dance floor. Dee, to this day I can still see you two dancing like it was yesterday. There's so much distance in the years, but not in my thoughts or my heart. I wish you all peace and strength as you grieve and heal. Remember to just take it one day at a time. Love Always - Heather

Our deepest thoughts and prayers to the Ayala and Barajas families. This is a sad day. Elias and Dee were always a blessings for us when our son David Barajas Jr was a baby growing up . So many fun memories we all shared while going up north with Elias, Dee and the kids to visit Elias Mama. Truly, many, many more blessed and kind memories ........ May God give you the comfort and strength during this difficult time. God bless you.

Elias stepped up when I couldn't run for Commander a few years ago. He has a passion for Veteran's and a bigger heart than most people i know of. His desire to help and maintain our building was inspiring! He always said that he can't physically do the work anymore but will show and teach anyone that is willing to learn. His bless you sir! You will be missed by us all!!

Some of my best memories as a kid was being at aunt Dee's and uncle Eli's
Thanksgiving dinners was the best, aunt Dee making her delicious pies and uncle Eli making sure everyone ate enough.
I remember he tricked me one time and said "try this chicken" so I did, and I told him it was good, and he said see, you like frog legs.... I could not believe he did that to me (hahaha)
I also remember him always getting on to the boys if they picked on me "hey leave her alone or imma kick your ass"
Thanks uncle Eli for always looking out for me you will never be forgotten and you will always hold a special place in my heart.
-Andrea (Barajas) Garza

As a kid I remember my Uncle Elias as a big man...He made it a point to puff out his chest and deepen his voice when speaking to you....(Knowledge probably gained from serving in the military.)
I am around the same age as Alex and Rachel. I never saw either one of them "get out of line." Frankly, he scared me a little...He was tough but respected. (Ok...He was not as scary as Grandma Ayala but close.)
Watching him decline in the last few years must have been difficult for the family. This once colossal man now frail and weak.
I think Uncle Elias would want everyone to remember him as that "big man."
With much love and respect
