RAMIREZ, Josefa R. "Pepa" of Bay City, Michigan, formerly of Saginaw, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Bay County Medical Care Facility, surrounded by family. She was 89 years old. Josefa Ruiz was born on March 19, 1927 in Cotulla, Texas to the late Alfonso and Fabiana (Benavidez) Ruiz. She married Telesforo Ramirez; they were married for 37 years. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2013. She enjoyed daily prayer, cooking, sewing, crocheting, quilting, music, dancing, and caring for her children and grandchildren. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Guadalupanas. Surviving are seven children: Telesforo, Jr. (Beatrice) Ramirez of Gilbert, AZ, Irma (David) Zamora of Tucson, AZ, Gloria (Pascual) Robles of Free Port, TX, Yolanda Ramirez-Santoya of Bay City, Norma Borrero of Loves Park, IL, Rogelio (Sarah) Ramirez of Seguin, TX, Rita (James) Hernandez of Essexville; a daughter-in-law, Delores Ornelas of Saginaw; 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; step-sister, Maria Salinas; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by sons, Carlos Ornelas and Ramiro (Marylou) Ramirez; son-in-law, Robert Santoya; two great-grandsons: Robert and Caden Cheshire; brother, Alfonso Ruiz, Jr. The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff of the Bay County Medical Care Facility especially the staff on 1 East for 11 wonderful years of care. FUNERAL: Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 28, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. 6th Ave. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris OFM Cap will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State) on Thursday, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., as well as on Friday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. A Vigil for Josefa will take place on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Bay County Medical Care Facility Auxiliary or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
