Obituary of Nancy Jane Hoffman
Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our beloved mother, grandmother, and sister passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at her home. She was 63 years old.
Nancy Jane Lewis was born on August 25, 1953 in Columbus, Indiana to the late Marion V. and Yuma A. (Williams) Lewis. She married William W. Hoffman on January 6, 1973; he survives her.
Nancy graduated from Arthur Hill High School with the Class of 1971. She worked as a cashier in departmental store and as a teller in financial institutions until her retirement in 2010. Nancy spent much of her time volunteering: she was twice past Queen of the Daughters of the Nile Makere 99 Temple; participated with the Bluewater Michigan Chapter of the NRHS for 19 years as a food service manager, where she ran the first class diner car and the snack car; and was a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary for 15 years, where she achieved the status of Vice Flotilla Commander, Public Affairs Officer and Communications Specialist. Nancy was also a member of St. Luke's Evangelical Church and was a recording secretary of a local union. In her spare time, Nancy enjoyed baking cakes for all occasions, for over 40 years.
Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Bill; two sons, Matthew (Dawn) Hoffman and Jeffery Hoffman; five grandchildren: Brenden, Jakeb, Alerie, Joseph, and Dorothy; two brothers, Thomas and Robert Lewis; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents.
