Paveglio, Annette Rose of Saginaw Township, Michigan Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Friday, September 16, 2016. She was 102 years old. Annette Rose Toscana was born on February 7, 1914 in South Range, Michigan to the late Anton and Mary (Chimino) Toscana. She married the love of her life Peter H. Paveglio on May 3, 1941 in Battle Creek, Michigan; he preceded her in death on February 20, 1998. Annette proudly served her country as a second lieutenant in the United States Army during World War II. In 1941, Annette was the first woman as a Red Cross Nurse called to active duty from Saginaw County in the Army Nurses Corps and was stationed at Fort Custer. Following the war, she began working as a Registered Nurse at Saginaw General Hospital. Annette took time away from work to raise her seven beautiful children. She then went back to work for the Saginaw County Health Department as a traveling school nurse. Annette became a certified audiologist by furthering her education at Wayne State University. She then continued to work for the Saginaw County Health Department until her retirement. Annette enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and senior Wii bowling at the Commission on Aging. Known as an avid reader and a very social person, she looked forward to a full active day. Annette was proud to be a founding member of St. Helen Catholic Church. She was actively involved in many church and community associations including the Ss. Peter & Paul Food Pantry, the Catholic Study Club, and League of Catholic Women. Annette will forever be remembered for her love of life and most importantly for her love, dedication and devotion to family. Our mother's wish to remain home during her illness was made possible not only by her loving family, but also the care of her grandson-in-law, Dr. Samuel J. Shaheen; caregiver Michele Turner and Heartland Homecare/Hospice. Surviving are six children: Sr. Annette Marie (Gail) Paveglio, S.C., Michele Paveglio (Ed Hart), Marguerite (Ken) Eigner, Maryann (Robert) Grnak, Brian Paveglio, and Paula (Herbert) Grunwell; 11 grandchildren: Scott Paveglio, Kevin Paveglio, Colleen Paveglio (Brian Lillie), Nicole Koritsaris (Nathan Gast), Danielle (Ken) Konen, Ryan (Melissa) Eigner, Amber Grnak, Jordan Grnak, David (Tanya) Grunwell, Holly (Dr. Samuel) Shaheen, and Ashley (Brandon) Jerman; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
