Guzman, Gabriel of Saginaw, Michigan Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on Wednesday, September 07, 2016 at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper with his family by his side. He was 87 years old. Gabriel Guzman was born on March 22, 1929, in Merrill, Michigan to the late Cipriano and Florence (DeRangle) Guzman. He married the love of his life, Mary Hernandez on August 20, 1960; she survives him. Gabriel honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Gabriel was employed by St. Mary's of Michigan in Maintenance for 20 years, then an additional 17 years working in Purchasing. He enjoyed traveling and meeting new people through work. He will forever be remembered for making friends wherever he went and his kindness to all. Surviving are his beloved wife of 56 years, Mary Guzman of Saginaw; five children: Stephen (Doris) Guzman of Orlando, Catherine (Jamie) Martin of Saginaw, Patricia Vallejo of San Antonio, Helen Trevino of Saginaw and Cynthia Guzman of Saginaw; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Rita Hernandez. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister: Antonio Guzman and Isabel Flores; two step-brothers: Aurelio Almanza and Vincent Guzman. FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1525 S. Washington Ave. Rev. Fr. Ronald J. Dombrowski will officiate. Military Honors will follow under the auspices of the United States Army and the American Legion Post #22. Rite of Committal will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass at 4:30 p.m. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to American Heart Association.
