VonBerg, Richard M. of Saginaw, Michigan Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend took his final flight into the sky above on Friday, August 05, 2016 at the VA Ann Arbor Health Systems. He was 88 years old. Richard M. VonBerg was born on September 10, 1927 in Charles City, Iowa to the late Leonard and Florence (McEathron) VonBerg. Following high school, Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Upon his return, he attended Iowa State University and graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He married Edna D. Diener on May 15, 1954; she preceded him in death on February 19, 2008. He later married Vickie L. Adams on August 27, 2011; she survives him. Richard worked for SquareD Electric as an engineer and salesman. He later worked for Kober Industrial Sales before starting up his own company VonBerg and Associates, where he was proudly worked side by side with his sons, Michael and Dave. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Lions Club, Experimental Aircraft Association, Elks Club and American Legion Post #439. He loved hunting, fishing, ballroom dancing, bowling, fishing, golfing and bird watching. He was an avid reader and enjoyed taking his dogs on walks. Richard's true passion was flying. Surviving are his wife of nearly 5 years, Vickie VonBerg of Saginaw; two sons: James (Kari) VonBerg of Saginaw, Dave (Joanne) VonBerg of Saginaw; seven grandchildren: James (Michele) VonBerg, Brett VonBerg, Richelle VonBerg, Tiffany Harper, Kimberly VonBerg, Justin Harper, and Kaitlyn VonBerg; three great-grandchildren: Alexis Curtis, Landon Bailey, Hudson Schoenmeyer; and a brother, Don (Sandy) VonBerg of CA. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Marie VonBerg, a son, Michael VonBerg; and grandson, Brandon VonBerg. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Amy Terhune and Rev. James Neumann will officiate. Military Honors and burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the auspices of the United States Navy and VFW Post #1859. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to First United Methodist Church.
