Obituary of Frederick G. Nerio

Frederick G. Nerio, Sr. of Saginaw, Michigan went to be with The Lord on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center. He was 83 years old. Frederick G. Nerio was born on May 15, 1933 in Filion, Michigan to the late Louis and Genevieve (De La Garza) Nerio. Fred loved his family and enjoyed hosting family parties and entertaining by playing his guitar and singing. He also loved The Lord and his country. He was extremely proud of the time he spent in United States Marine Core as Staff Sergeant and served in the Korean War. He took pleasure in meeting monthly with a group of Marine veterans to reminisce. Fred was the executive director for the American Latino Business Association in Southern California and the convention manager for the National Health Organization in Monrovia, California. Fred retired from sales where he worked for the National Health Federation. This profession served him well as he liked meeting new people and engaging in conversation. He was appointed to the Chino California Planning Commission and continued to have an active interest in politics throughout his life. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Veronica A. (Green) Nerio; his children: Fredrick G. Nerio Jr. of Tampa, FL, Daniel A. Nerio of Riverview, FL, Terri L. (Alan) Haswell of Freeland, MI, Tonie A. (Sean) Campbell of Valrico, FL, and together Frederick and Veronica had one daughter, Bonnie Pulver of Massachusetts; three sisters: Olga Champagne, Esther Aguilar, Isabel Gugyela; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his special son, Peter M. Nicholson; brothers: Siefred, Albert, Arnif, Carl, Louis and Rudolph; sisters: Alice Gonzales, Louise Flores, Eloisa Rojas Armendarez and Olivia Durgis. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Lenard and Lenore Nagy and also Mike Keller for all of their love and support during Fred's illness. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1525 S. Washington Ave. Rev. Fr. Ronald J. Dombrowski and Deacon Roger Passionek will officiate. Military honors and burial will promptly take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, Michigan, 48442, under the auspices of the United States Marie Corps. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning to make an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center - Palliative Care Unit or Holy Family Catholic Church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State).
