Marcella Adelaide (Overbey) Linville, 92, best known as "Addie" died Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Runk and Pratt, SML Retirement Village, Hardy, Virginia. Marcella Adelaide (Overbey) Linville was born on May 14, 1924 in Robertson Co., Kentucky to Alva and Florence Overbey. She was raised on her father's tobacco farm with a sister, Christine and two brothers, Perry and J.B. She married Alvin R. Linville on December 23, 1939 in Augusta, Kentucky, and soon after moved to Saginaw, Michigan. During WWII, Addie worked at Saginaw Steering Gear then known as "The Gun Plant". Addie was the Linville family's "Rosie the Riveter", helping make rifles for WWII. Al served as an Army Rifleman 745 and received a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars while fighting during the Battle of the Bulge, Bastogne, Belgium. Addie and Al served our nation to preserve our freedoms, but seldom talked about their service. Addie was a member of the First Christian Church West and the Women of the Moose Chapter #420 in Saginaw, Michigan. She served as a Senior Regent and was very proud of the service work of the Moose, especially Moose heart, a safe haven for kids in need. Addie and Al enjoyed bowling and used various tournaments to travel with friends to many parts of America. Addie and Al enjoyed winters in Florida and summers in Michigan after Al's retirement. Al died in 1998 in Saginaw, Michigan. Addie moved to Moneta, Virginia in 2001 to be with her daughter in Moneta, Virginia. Surviving are her two sons, one daughter and spouses: Perry and Dorothy Linville, Decatur, Alabama; Larry and Joyce Linville, Hemlock, Michigan; Sarah and Jim Hurt, Moneta, Virginia. Grandchildren: Christopher Linville, Ellen Boyd, Laura Putnam, Amy Inman, Becky Chanin, Jill Hunt, and Jamie Buckner. Great grandchildren: Erin, Emerson, Jacob, Lucas, Joshua, Kyle, Magan, Matthew and Julia. Our thanks to SML Retirement Village (Memory Care-Gills Creek) and Medi Home Health & Hospice.
