Obituary of Elizabeth Gutzwiller

Gutzwiller, Elizabeth "Libby" of Saginaw, Michigan Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at her home with her family by her side. She was 76 years old. Elizabeth "Libby" Penny was born on September 19, 1939 in Springfield, Illinois to the late Frank X. and Ruth L. (Burge) Penny. She married the love of her life, William "David" Gutzwiller on February 18, 1956; he preceded her in death on February 3, 2015. In 1964, Libby and David moved their family from Springfield, Illinois to Saginaw, Michigan to pursue opportunities with General Motors. She was employed with various dental offices in Saginaw, working chairside and as a dental receptionist. Libby retired in 2000 after 34 years of dedicated service. Libby enjoyed going to the casino, but above all, she loved and treasured her family. She will forever be remembered for being a kind and gentle spirit. Surviving are two sons and a daughter: William H. (Lisa) Gutzwiller of Saginaw, Ronald L. (Mary) Gutzwiller of Hubbard Lake, Virginia "Ginger" (Rich) Rorrer of Saginaw; a daughter-in-law, Debra Gutzwiller; 10 grandchildren: William H. (Melissa) Gutzwiller, II, Kristyn Latham, David (Shianne) Gutzwiller, Laura Gutzwiller, Michelle (Zach) Smith, Jonathon Gutzwiller, Ronald J. "R.J." Gutzwiller, Elizabeth Rorrer, Ryan Gutzwiller, and Hanna Rorrer; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Ann (Ken) Buetow of Saginaw; a sister-in-law, Doris DiCenso of Springfield, IL; a brother-in-law, James Gutzwiller of Panama. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Gutzwiller in 2007; a brother, Frank Penny, Jr. in 1994; and a daughter-in-law, T.K. Archibald in 2012. FUNERAL: A Memorial Service will take place at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. James Neumann will officiate. Honoring Libby's wishes cremation has taken place. Burial will take place at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
