Gushen, Gerald F. "Cap" Saginaw Twp., Michigan Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Samaritas Senior Living of Saginaw. He was 86 years old. Gerald Francis Gushen was born May 14, 1929 in Saginaw to the late Floyd and Luella (Prueter) Gushen. Cap proudly served his country during the Korean War with the U.S. Army. He then became a lifetime member of American Legion Post #439. Cap was a truck driver and then a dispatcher for TNT Holland Motor Express. During his free time, Cap enjoyed taking time to fish in the Au Sable River. He married Doris G. O'Connor on May 5, 1972. She survives him. Cap is survived by his wife, Doris; four sisters: Lucile (Edward) Brettrager, Leona Jurek, Kay Meloy and Marilyn Trombley. Cap is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Diane Robinson; and a special nephew, Louis (Kris) McCray. Cap is preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Irvin Gushen. According to Cap's wishes cremation has taken place. Military honors and inurnment of his cremated remains will take place at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2016 Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI 48442.
