Obituary of Russell A. Holtman

Holtman, Russell Allen, Sr. of Freeland, MI, went to be with the LORD on Monday, April 18, 2016, in Saginaw, MI. He was 86 years old. Russell was born in Saginaw, MI on October 8, 1929. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He married Arlene Coty on January 31, 1953; she survives him. Russell worked as a foreman for the City of Saginaw Water and Sewer Department for 36 years. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. Russell was involved in Right to Life and Knights of Columbus. Surviving are his wife, Arlene Holtman; eight children and spouses: Russell (Loretta) Holtman Jr., Thomas (Marion) Holtman, Lori (Rolland) Rivette, Edward Holtman, Michael (Kelly) Holtman, William (Corinne) Holtman, Debra (Greg) Krzciok, Robert (Amy) Holtman; 24 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Russell is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Dottie (Curry) Holtman, and siblings; Marcolene, Curry, Warren, Don, Fred and Joann. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to St. Agnes Church, Stone Crest Assisted Living and Covenant Harrison. FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 300 Johnson Street. Rev. Fr. Robert Deland will officiate. Rite of Committal and Military Honors under the auspices of the United States Army and American Legion Post #439. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening. Russell will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the Mass.
