Obituary of Sally Lou LaFountaine

LaFOUNTAINE, Sally L. of Saginaw Township, Michigan, passed away on March 23, 2016 at Barton Woods Assisted Living. She was 86 years old. Sally Lou Henris was born on April 16, 1929 in Flint, Michigan to the late Arthur and Alice (Singer) Henris. She married Charles Francis LaFountaine on December 3, 1949 in Saginaw; he preceded her in death on November 3, 2015. Sally received her schooling from the Holy Family Catholic Schools. She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. For many years, Sally enjoyed the ladies card club, and has always enjoyed reading, listening to music, and weekend trips up north to Tawas. Sally made certain to, and highly enjoyed, cheering on her children and grandchildren at their extracurricular activities. Left to cherish her memory are three daughters and one son: Cathi Swope, Charles LaFountaine, Lynne (Mike) Gempel, and Laurie LaFountaine; six grandchildren: Nicole, Samantha, Megan, Trisha, Lisa, and Richard; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Howard (Rosemary) Henris and Arthur Henris. Sally was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 65 years, Charles; son, Richard LaFountaine; grandson, Chris Gempel; son-in-law, John Swope; and brother, Robert Henris. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Barton Woods Assisted Living, as well as Hospice Advantage/Compassus for the loving care of their mother. FUNERAL: Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 1, 2016 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 6400 McCarty Road, 48603. Rev. Fr. William Rutkowski will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State) on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. On Friday morning, Sally will lie in state at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time at Mass. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Alzheimer's Association.
