Obituary of Leonard Hernandez II

Hernandez, Leonard II "Chulo" "El Jefe" of Saginaw, Michigan Our beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and neighbor passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Covenant HealthCare-Cooper. He was 67 years old. Leonard Hernandez II was born on February 13, 1949 in Boerne, Texas to the late Leonard and Alberta (Ramaro) Hernandez. He was a proud 1967 graduate of Buena Vista High School. Following graduation, Leonard honorably served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy during Vietnam. He married the love of his life Martha A. Flores on June 24, 1972 in Ithaca, Michigan; she survives him. Leonard worked for Malleable Iron - GM Power Train for over 44 years, retiring as a foreman in 2006. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Leonard was an avid outdoors man and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed watching football and often cheered for his favorite teams: Detroit Lions, Pittsburgh Steelers and the University of Michigan. Leonard also rooted for the Detroit Tigers and also liked watching WWE wrestling with his son and his son's girlfriend. He also treasured and cherished his grandchildren, often calling and asking them "What's happening?" Above all, Leonard will forever be remembered for his corny jokes, wonderful sense of humor and for his love and devotion to his family. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Martha Hernandez of Saginaw; a son, Leonard Hernandez III and his partner, Ramiro Herrera III of Bay City; a daughter, Melissa and her husband, Rock Kincaid of Hazel Park; a son, Nicholas Hernandez and his girlfriend, Tye Boyes of Saginaw; two grandchildren: Rock Kincaid II and Anthony Kincaid of Hazel Park; two close men he considered sons: Scott Rush and Cody Willette; two good friends: Yolanda Aguirre and Irma Sanchez; five brother and four sisters; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Leonard also leaves behind four dogs, two parrots and a bunny. He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, brother-in-law and nephew. Honoring Leonard's wishes cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted to the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State).
