Obituary of Tara Marie Cuevas

Cuevas, Tara Marie of Saginaw, Michigan, Our beloved daughter, mother and sister passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 19, 2016. She was 30 years old. Tara Marie Cuevas was born on November 13, 1985 in Saginaw, Michigan to Marie D. Cuevas and Derrick Lynn Akins, Sr. She was studying nursing at Delta College and had been employed as a CNA for St. Mary's of Michigan Hospital. Tara was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe. She treasured and cherished her entire family. Above all, she will forever be remembered for being a loving mother to her son, Izayah; he was her entire world.
Surviving are a son, Izayah Marcel Cuevas of Saginaw; a mother Marie D. Cuevas of Saginaw; a father, Derrick (Alisa) Akins, Sr. of Saginaw; four brothers: Adrian Wilson, Ruben Aguilar, Derrick Akins, Jr., and Darius Akins all of Saginaw; two sisters: Celeasha Wilson of Saginaw and Kecia Watford of TN; Godparents: Johnny Cuevas, Tela Barcenas, Joseph Roach, and Joan Diaz. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and two dear friends: Carmen Hill and Pastor Caroline Wilkins.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Tristan Aguilar, Sr.; grandparents: Viviano and Mary Cuevas and Fred and Willie Mae Akins; an uncle, Darryl Akins, Sr; and an aunt, Vicky Cuevas.
FUNERAL: Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. 6th Street. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris, OFMCap will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening. Tara will lie in state at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
