Dorr, Edna R. of Saginaw, Michigan Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at HealthSource Saginaw with her family by her side. She was 97 years old. Edna R. Gritz was born on May 15, 1918 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Charles and Helen (Lengvanes) Gritz. She married Herbert A. Dorr; he preceded her in death on February 21, 1950. She was a former member of St. George Catholic Church and belonged to their Altar Society. She was also active in the League of Catholic Women and Local Union #467. Edna was a current member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She was employed at Lufkin Rule as well as Chevrolet Saginaw Manufacturing. Edna loved working in her yard and gardening. When she turned 90 years old, she bought a John Deere tractor and used it to mow her own lawn and plow her own driveway. Above all, Edna loved and cherished her family. She will be forever remembered for making her wonderful soups and her selflessness to her family and friends. Surviving two sons and one daughter: John (Phyllis) Dorr of Bridgeport, Fran (Clarence) Jaenicke of Hemlock, and Gerald Dorr of Everett; five grandchildren: Tracie Dorr, Michael (Karen) Dorr, Gary (Lisa) Jaenicke, Debra (Dennis) O'Connor, and Craig (Kate) Jaenicke; and three great-grandchildren: Alex O'Connor, Dann O'Connor, and Koryn Jaenicke. Edna was preceded in death by a sister, Katie (Charles) Lazda. FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd. Rev. Fr. Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Edna will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
