Obituary of Georgie Orven Hopper

Hopper, Georgie Orven III of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday January 27, 2016. He was born on April 3, 1973 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Georgie Orven Hopper Jr., from Saginaw, and his wife, Penny Ann (LaVigne) Hopper of Carrollton; she survives him. Georgie attended Bethlehem Lutheran School at the age of 4, then attended Carrollton Public Schools from 1978, graduating in 1991. While at Carrollton High school he played one year of football and was actively involved with the marching band and concert band playing the saxophone. At the age of 16, he had attained the highest rank of Eagle Scout within the Boy Scouts. The following fall, after graduation, Georgie was enrolled and attending Delta College and received his Associate's Degree. He then transferred to Saginaw Valley State University majoring in Criminal Justice. While attending college he worked at Carrollton Public School's Emotionally Impaired Program for several years. Next, Georgie continued to use his skills in working with the troubled youth at what was called Boysville (now Holy Cross). His passion to help the disenfranchised/disabled further flourished when he was employed at the Transition Center (SISD). Georgie married Farrah H. Madsen in June of 2007. Left to cherish his memory are his three sons: Georgie Orven Hopper IV, Griffin Matthew Hopper and Gage LaVigne Hopper they were his passion, focus and energy. Together, Georgie and his sons enjoyed going fishing, camping and decorating for the holidays. Georgie always jumped at the opportunity to help coach with any sport his boys may have been playing. He also enjoyed cookouts, spending time with friends as well as cooking for them. Surviving besides his mother; a brother, Matthew (Ellen) Hopper and their three children: Lincoln, Samuel and Lillian Hopper. Also surviving are numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends (whom are loved like family). He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Georgie Orven Hopper Jr.; cousin, Sarah Ruth Hopper; uncle, Ronald B. LaVigne. FUNERAL: A Memorial Service will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the St. John Paul II Center, 3160 Carla Dr., Saginaw, MI 48604, across from the Carrollton Middle School. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 4:00 p.m. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, for those wishing to plan an express sympathy may go to a "Go Fund Me" account set up for his three sons, www.gofundme.com/t99vc598.
