Obituary of Carolyn Louise Zeiger

Zeiger, Carolyn Louise Saginaw Township, Michigan Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt passed away at home on Saturday evening, January 23, 2016, at the age of 67 years. Carolyn was born July 19, 1948, at Ft. Knox, Kentucky, where her father was serving in the U.S. Army. She is survived by her husband of forty-four years, Dr. William Zeiger; her daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Ted Stager and their infant daughter Emma Louise, Royal Oak, Michigan; her parents, Major (Ret.) Dale and Louise Roenneburg, Brodhead, Wisconsin; her sister, Lureen Honig, El Paso, Texas; and her nieces and their families, Renée Viens (Michael and sons Nicholas and Andrew), Tewksbury, Massachusetts, and Heather Frey (Joel and daughter Megan), Lantana, Texas. Proud to be an "Army Brat," Carolyn spent her early years in post-War Germany, her grade school years at Ft. Sheridan, Illinois, and her high school years in Japan as her family followed her father's many postings. Carolyn graduated from Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minnesota, with a B.S.Ed. degree in 1970 and taught at Friedens Lutheran School, Kenosha, Wisconsin. In 1976 her family moved to Saginaw. Carolyn retired from Michigan Lutheran Seminary as the school's librarian in 2014, after 36 years of faithful service. FUNERAL: The Christian funeral service will take place at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 30, 2016, at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, 1020 Court Street, Saginaw. Pastor William Brassow will officiate. Private committal of Carolyn's mortal remains will take place later at St. Gabriel's Mausoleum of Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park, Livonia, Michigan, where they will await the Resurrection. VISITATION: Visitation will be at the Deisler Funeral Home, Hemmeter Rd., 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State), on Friday, from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. Carolyn will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, memorials to Michigan Lutheran Seminary will be appreciated by the family.
